Martwick applauds bill that gives Cook County homeowners more time to file property assessment appeals

SPRINGFIELD — State Senator Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) released the following statement in response to the passage of Senate Bill 1988:

“A longer appeal period allows homeowners the time they need to ensure that their appeals are in order. The assessment process is a source of stress for any homeowner, but the added rush does nothing to make the process easier.

“This year, Norwood Park Township was only given 19 business days to file. There were ten weekend days and one holiday. Thanks to this measure, the people of every township, including Norwood Park, will not have to rush their appeals again in the future.”
