Martwick: Budget continues to build financial responsibility

SPRINGFIELD — In response to the Illinois Senate approving the Fiscal Year 2025 budget, State Senator Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) issued the following statement:

“This budget represents a pledge to the hard working people of Illinois that we are dedicated to providing services that uplift our communities. With funding for vital mental health services, child tax credits and financial aid for higher education, we are investing in the programs our working families need.

“Additionally a new pilot program will provide debt relief for Illinoisans who have been crushed by medical debt. It demonstrates our dedication to expanding health care affordability and providing financial relief to working families.

“This budget reflects the state’s commitment to fiscal responsibility. By continuing to fully fund our annual pension contribution and allocating savings to our Rainy Day Fund, we are creating a brighter future for the next generation. It is our responsibility to ensure Illinois is financially stable, and this budget accomplishes that.”
