CHICAGO – State Senator Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) is announcing that the Illinois Department on Aging is seeking nominations for the Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame.
“Many of our senior citizen neighbors have put incredible amounts of time and effort into our community, and Illinois wants to recognize their life-long commitment,” Martwick said. “The Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame is a fantastic program that honors those who have made a difference by consistent and long term involvement in building better communities through volunteerism and action.”
Nominations for the Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame are open to all adults age 65 and older who excel in the categories of community service, education, performance and/or graphic arts, and the labor force.
The Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame was established by the General Assembly in 1994 to honor adults’ contributions and accomplishments in their communities. Every year, four Illinoisans age 65 or older are inducted into the hall of fame for their hard work and efforts over the course of their life.
Nominations for the Senior Illinoisan Hall of Fame can be submitted on their website until June 1 at www2.illinois.gov/aging/HallofFame.
