Martwick encourages community to come to free back-to-school block party

CHICAGO – To celebrate the upcoming school year and prepare students as they head back to the classroom, State Senator Robert Martwick is hosting a back-to-school block party this Sunday, Aug. 13 from 3-7 p.m. near the Agatite Plaza, located at 4448 N. Milwaukee Ave.

“Summer break is ending and this is a great way for families to enjoy one last family-fun event before the school year starts up again,” said Martwick (D-Chicago). “Come celebrate the start of a new school year with free school supplies, backpacks and more.”

Following the success of the previous year’s block party, Martwick is partnering with Representative Lindsey LaPointe, the Chicago Music and Acting Academy, Downstage Arts and The Made Shop once again to host the Back-to-School Bash to celebrate their neighbors and the artists in the community while providing students with the supplies they need for the upcoming school year.

Attendees will get to enjoy free food, backpacks and school supplies while supplies last. There will be raffles for a Target gift card, haircuts from XoX Hair Studio and more.

“Back-to-school season can be stressful and expensive,” said Martwick. “This event will help families save on supplies their kids need for the classroom.”

People with questions about the event can contact Martwick’s office at 773-286-1115.
