SPRINGFIELD — In response to the governor’s outlined budget proposal, State Senator Robert Martwick (D-Chicago) issued the following statement:
“I am pleased the governor’s budget proposal includes additional payments to our pension debt. There is a focus on ensuring that we provide a better future for the next generation. By continuing to fully fund our schools, we will provide our children the opportunity to be successful.
“While I am thrilled that the governor has proposed to commit resources above and beyond what is required to pay down our debts, I recognize that he can only promise so much. I am committed to working toward finding solutions to ensure that our children inherit a better system than we did.”
