Over $18 million coming to area infrastructure with strong support from Martwick

CHICAGO — State Senator Robert Martwick secured over $18 million to build and repair infrastructure in Chicago and the Northwest Suburbs.

“Investing in improving vital infrastructure like the Kennedy Expressway is one of the best uses of our state’s resources,” said Martwick (D-Chicago). “By investing in our roadways, we create a ripple effect of job creation and enhanced economic development that will reverberate throughout our communities.”

The largest multi-year program to build and repair infrastructure in state history will invest $50.6 billion over six years, continuing an unprecedented investment in safety, mobility and quality of life made possible by the bipartisan Rebuild Illinois capital program. The Illinois Department of Transportation’s new multi-year program is both comprehensive and multimodal, with investments in roads and bridges, aviation, transit, freight and passenger rail, waterways, and bicycle and pedestrian accommodations touching every Illinois county.

As part of IDOT’s latest Multi-Year Plan under Rebuild Illinois, the district Martwick represents will see infrastructure projects totaling more than $18 million next year.

“Revitalized streets and expressways support commerce and ensure the safety of every driver traveling in and around Chicago,” Martwick said. “These investments uplift our communities by maintaining and improving the roads and bridges that people use every day.”
